SB Nation have got a very detailed & interesting account of the Big Show's brief foray into boxing. He left WWE at the start of 2007 and learnt how to box with the plan he was going to make big bucks as a professional boxer. This idea came from none other than Hulk Hogan and was financially backed by a guy called Cecile Barker, head of SoBe entertainment. Barker was also funding Brooke Hogan's music career and his son was Brooke's boyfriend. And they were the people Hogan is talking about in his race tape scandal.

One of the reasons Big Show tries boxing is that he's got a $450,000 tax bill. He's been earning $1m a year since 1999, so that's at least $7m he's earned but no-one seems to know were the money went.

The reason this story came about is because Cecile Barker is suing WWE/Big Show for breach of contract and all of the information came out in court. Big Show literally said I quit and then went to meet Vince a week later. Barker bought Big Show a specially adapted $400k house to live in close to the gym. Gave him $84k a month wage which was an advance on future earnings. He's spent over $1.2m on him and has nothing to show for it. He also said he's spent $1m on a Hulk Hogan energy drink which never got off the ground.

When they took Big Show's training up a notch, he sparred with a half decent pro who was an Olympian. Show got knocked out, got scared and then quit. He then goes back to WWE to do the Floyd Mayweather fight, pretending he's been a boxer and to this day still does the knockout punch.

To be fair, I can understand why Big Show got scared when he got knocked out sparring. He did an interview recently where he said that all he remembered was being in the ring with the guy, then he was in his car with the keys in the ignition. Luckily he hadn't driven anywhere. Good reason to get scared though, as if he'd driven like that he'd likely have killed himself or someone else. Worst part is that the people he was with didn't stop him getting into his car - surely they knew that he wasn't alright.

"I remember trapping [Wilson] in the comer, him getting out of the corner, and then I remember waking up in my Hummer with the keys in the ignition. Apparently, they had taken my gloves off, called the match, and I had taken my bag and walked out of the gym and was sitting in my car with the car running when I woke up… It scared the s–t out of me."

That's what he said to a reporter. Can completely understand being scared at that - and the guys that let me go to his car should be ashamed of themselves, they'd have known that he was out on his feet and in no condition to drive.

The dude's a liar. He wasn't knocked out and wasn't on the floor for 10 seconds. His opponent pulled the punch (didn't hit him as hard as he could) and Big Show still went down.

His trainer Artie Artwell who's been training fighters for 25 years taking them to world title fights, said he looked fine and it looked like a flash knockdown and wasn't concussed or hurt. Fighters get beaten up and knocked down every day in gyms, its what happens and its a way of life. They didn't know they were dealing a 450lb pussy who was boasting he had an iron jaw. Gets hit with a soft shot he didn't see and goes down. It soon dawned on him, that if this opponent can do that to me in a practise fight, imagine what someone could do in a real fight, with smaller gloves & no head gear. He wanted a way out of this venture and used this as his exit method.

The Blue Print

I know he left for boxing, but I didn't realize there was so much to it. I know he has size over everyone, but wouldnt anyone with speed pretty much kill him? And he went back to the WWE and hasnt really done much since.. He's always just there.. Even in big programs he is in, hes always the guy who is just filling space. Is he still living in that house?

Yeah, anyone with speed would destroy the guy. No doubt he can hit hard, I mea look at the size of the dude, his fist is like the size of a guys whole face. But he's slow. I imagine most fighters would be able to dodge his punches. And he clearly can't take a punch either.
