Battle of the Bands 42
Starting with this edition, I will make an effort to include links to songs for each artist. (Or music videos, if applicable.)
– Paige
Hey-hey, kids! Looks like Def Leppard have lost their championship spot(s) to feisty fire fetishists, Rammstein!
Welcome, 4W faithfuls, to Battle of the Bands!
When you vote, please request a musical act for the challenger list. Each act will be added to the list in the order they are requested. (Only one request at a time per person, please.) Battles will be usually be posted on Mondays, with the voting period lasting for about one week. I will try to post a heads-up as voting nears an end. When a band loses, it will be unable to re-challenge for 10 rounds. If an act achieves 10 straight victories, they will be retired from champion status and the next two challengers in the request list will duke it out for supremacy!
Note: The term "musical act" denotes any band, solo artist, vocal group... whatever you like. Basically, this is an all-inclusive popularity contest.
Voters are encouraged to include their opinions of the bands/artists in the battle, or at least a few short words about the act they voted for. Not a requirement, of course!
WOLLT IHR DAS BETT IN FLAMMEN SEHEN?!

The champion...
Rammstein
Rammstein is a German industrial metal band, formed in 1994 in Berlin. Throughout its existence, Rammstein's six-man lineup has remained unchanged—lead guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe, bassist Oliver "Ollie" Riedel, drummer Christoph "Doom" Schneider, lead vocalist Till Lindemann, rhythm guitarist Paul H. Landers, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz.
The band helped to found a subgenre within German hard rock and metal that became known as Neue Deutsche Härte. The majority of their songs are in German, but they have also performed songs entirely or partially in other languages including English, Spanish, French, and Russian. Rammstein's award-winning live shows are known for their pyrotechnic elements and both on and off-stage theatrics. Rammstein's entire catalogue is published by Universal Music Group.

vs.
The challenger...
Praying Mantis
Praying Mantis are an English rock band. Although a part of the new wave of British heavy metal scene, they pursued a musical direction more melodic and AOR-sounding than their contemporaries.
The band maintained a strong fan base in Japan, and when the Troys temporarily reformed Praying Mantis for a NWOBHM nostalgia tour in 1990, they were encouraged by the response to resurrect the band full-time. Their live work was released as Live at Last, and a follow-up studio album Predator in Disguise was released the following year, and the band soldiered on into the new century. A compilation album, The Best of Praying Mantis, was released in 2004. Following further line-up changes, a new album, Sanctuary, was released in the spring of 2009 and has gained worldwide media acclaim.

The Moon Maiden · 654 commentsMy vote goes to Rammstein again.
In checking out numerous songs by Praying Mantis, I'm finding I quite dislike them. They have a few moments here and there. Their many, many vocalists over the years and gradual shift into more and more generic territory makes for really inconsistent listening. Hell, it seems to me that the best vocalist they had was only on one EP.
Sery: To answer your question, it was a 4-3 victory, with the last vote coming in after it had been tied for a while.
(It occurs to me you may have just been expressing surprise, in which case you can simply ignore this!)

The Moon Maiden · 654 commentsRhys: Thank you. I like it, too! 🙂 It's cleaner-looking and I think including song links is a wise tool to include.
Gorgrim: Well, I did provide a link to one of their music videos; you could have at least watched it! 😋 But no, truly... the band went through too many line-up changes... mostly vocalists. They were always a generic AOR band just beneath their hard rock surface, anyway.... and they let that outer coating melt away after a few albums. Band does nothing for me.

The Moon Maiden · 654 commentsHeh. Never expected it to change! I just like the idea of providing readily accessible resources to help people make up their minds.
And believe me, not one other song I've heard comes close to even sounding a bit like Maiden.
I'll stop ragging on Praying Mantis now! 😋 Just not my cup of tea.
