From WWE.com:

WWE announced the release of Alberto Del Rio due to unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee.

Edit: could possibly be a work because they didn't use his real name like they usually do.

Gah! Not happy at all. But at least we could see him and Ricardo reunite in TNA.

Odd one. Didn't use his real name (unless it really is del Rio) so possibly not real, but wrestlers are usually shown on camera as unprofessional and having altercations backstage so stupid story if not legit. Hmm...

- As noted, WWE released Alberto Del Rio on Thursday for what they called an incident with an employee.

A third source has now reported that Del Rio allegedly slapped a WWE.com worker at this week’s TV tapings. The story going around is that Del Rio said he was responding to something said that he felt was racist in nature.

It was also said that WWE will not be commenting on the situation beyond the announcement that was made on their website yesterday.

We’ve also noted how Del Rio has expressed interest in leaving WWE once his contract expired this year. Del Rio recently relocated to Texas, which gave some people in WWE the impression that he moved to be closer to Mexico once his WWE run was over.

The story is that a WWE social media dude called Cody Barbierri was in catering and someone asked him to clean off his plate. Cody asked "Isn't that Del Rio's job?" This got back to Alberto and he confronted Cody, who didn't apologise and just smiled at him. Del Rio slapped him, understandably, and now this happened.

The slap sounded perfectly acceptable to me. Unprofessional, maybe, and two wrongs don't make a right, but the dude needed a slap and who better to give it? This is wrestling, for better or worse kangaroo courts are a part of the culture. What really confuses me is why the guy made the joke in the first place. It's not funny, it's not relevant, there's nothing to it. Unless he has existing heat with Del Rio, I have no idea why something like that would cross his mind. Even a legitimately racist person would shake their head at this one.

- WWE posted the following Twitter update regarding their decision to fire Alberto Del Rio:

“@VivaDelRio is responsible for his own actions. If you’re angry at anyone, be angry at Alberto. There’s no excuse for a pro athlete not to conduct themselves in a professional manner.”

Almost God like? Maybe...

So, this is a work.

Del Rio isn't his real name, it's Rodriguez or something like that (according to wiki) and WWE are talking about it, which they don't do if someone leaves the company.

Not sure what the angle is, but this is 100% fake.

The twitter post from WWE makes this a work for sure. No way they'd post that if it was legit.

Definitely smells like a work to me with that Twitter post.
