This Week On TNA Impact - What Have They Done!?

Main Event

I'll start with the ending of the show, how mental can TNA get now the wheels are off the track. You thought Ric Flair having a heart attack on Nitro was bad, Impact fades to black this week with Kurt Angle being paralysed. It was flat out uncomfortably disturbing. Angle was writhing on the floor like he was having spasms or a fit, his body uncontrollably twitching. Especially after the bad press they got from the Jesse Sorenson accident and him leaving the company. I have no idea where they can go with this, but its not entertainment.

Other stuff on the show included a run-down of the 7 men in the world title tournament. Its includes: Hardy, Joe, Sabin, Roode, Angle, Storm & Aries. They had a gauntlet battle rumble (Royal Rumble) to decide the 8th man. Magnus eliminated Sting whilst he was eliminating someone else to win it. Manik eliminated Knux and Taz got pissed off on commentary saying he wants to leave Aces & 8's, then backtracked, saying it was his inner voice saying it to him. i.e. his mind.

Gail Kim faced off against ODB. Gail Kim had Lei'd Tapa with her. I'm starting to think she's only got basic wrestling skills if she's just a bodyguard for Kim. Its not like Kim needs a bodyguard anyway she's a 3 time TNA women's champ, that division needs more bodies who can compete. There's only Kim, Brooke, Velvet Sky & ODB.

Bro-Mans faced off against GunStorm in a tag title match. It was looking like a squash match until Bro-Mans got a little bit of a comeback and then cheated to win. They did the finish that Rick Rude used to beat Warrior for the IC Title back in the day.

Bad Influence were dressed up as Sherlock Holme's in a bunch of a backstage skits trying to find Abyss. I thought they were a bit of a swing and a miss. Abyss came out at the end to give them a Black Hole Slam.

EC3 had another squash match against the guy he beat at Bound For Glory. Another waste of time which I skipped through. Aunt Dixie is supposed to be picking this opponents for him. Smart move to get the viewer to turn the channel.

Bully Ray has been left out of all the World Title tournament because he supposedly fucked up twice, losing to AJ. It looks like he's going into an angle with Ken Anderson. Anderson made another unscheduled appearance and attacked Ray. Again he was taken away by the cops in handcuffs. During the break, as Anderson was being led away. Ray attacked him from behind with a chain and whipped him with it whilst the cops just walked off. "Left him for dead" was the phrase they used to describe such an atrocity.

This might be complete bollocks on the TNA news merry-go-round but I read today that Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins is 80% done in buying TNA. He's got his own independent wrestling company called Resistance Pro which I've never even heard of. I just had a look on their websites roster page to see if there are any familiar faces. And its just a bunch of pictures with no names or bio's for them. Good start.

This new TNA 365 gimmick won't last long. This is the sort of thing their outputting. Jeff Hardy in meth mode & EC3 wakes up holding a camera

Bruce Pritchard who was on the creative for TNA from mid 2010 to  mid 2013 was on the Steve Austin show this week talking about TNA. He knocked them for their lack of mentoring the wrestlers and critiquing what they do. He said he tried to "produce" some of them with his advice, some of them took it well and others took offense. He told an interesting story about one wrestler (sounded like Ken Anderson) who was coming back from 6 months off with a storyline injury. He was going to the ring for a face off with the guy who attacked him. Although when he gets to the ring, he ignores his opponent and salutes the crowd on the different turnbuckles, ignoring his nemesis as he goes. When Pritchard gets them in the back to tell them off for blowing the whole angle. The wrestler's reason for doing it was because Steve Austin use to do it and the crowd always cheered!

The more I read about TNA the more I'm glad I watch it about once or twice a year now. Was great back in the day when the X-Division was fantastic putting on three-way matches with Styles, Lynn and Daniels. That was a great alternative to WWE and one I preferred.

Is someone really buying TNA off Dixie? If so I hope they improve it. They just don't seem like competition anymore.
