Saw this on the BBC earlier

Tributes have been paid to three former stars of the wrestling world who died on the same day this weekend.

Brian Lawler, Nikolai Volkoff and Brickhouse Brown all passed away on Sunday aged 46, 70 and 57 respectively.

The WWE said it was "saddened" to hear Lawler and Volkoff had died, while the National Wrestling Alliance sent its "deepest condolences and sympathies".

US and Olympic wrestler Kurt Angle said it had been "a very sad day in the history of sports entertainment".

Lawler, son of former wrestler Jerry "The King" Lawler, was known for his tag team partnership with Scott Garland.

Their Too Cool duo saw them perform in the late 1990s and early 2000s under the aliases Grand Master Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty.

Lawler, who was being held in jail in Tennessee on DUI (driving under the influence) and evading arrest charges, was found in his cell on Saturday.

The former wrestler, who was also known as Brian Christopher, reportedly hanged himself and died the following day after his life support was turned off.

Hulk Hogan was among other wrestling stars to pay tribute, thanking Lawler "for always stealing the show".

Nikolai Volkoff was born Josip Peruzovic in what is now Croatia. His WWE character was known - and much hated - for pretending to be a villainous Russian.

The former wrestler, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, died at his Maryland home following a recent spell in hospital.

Women's champion wrestler - and member of the Hart wrestling family - Natalya Neidhart tweeted photos of Volkoff together with a tribute calling the 70-year-old "so special" to her family.

Brickhouse Brown was born Frederick Seawright in 1960 and was best known for his association with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).

The former pro wrestler, who enjoyed most of his success in the 1980s and '90s, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year.

His death was confirmed in a Facebook post by former wrestler Luke Graham, whose on-stage brother Eddie Graham was Brown's trainer.

"No false finishes... no more swerves... no more kickouts. After a hard fight... he has left us," Graham's post read.

Wrestler Diamond Dallas Page was among others in the wrestling community to tweet calling Sunday a "super sad day for me and wrestling fans everywhere" following the three deaths.

New about Brian Lawler, and i must admit i don't have too much sympathy for him all things considered, but i didn't know about the other two! Sad day indeed...

Yeah, I heard. Crazy sad day for wrestling.

Brian Lawler had a lot of longstanding issues, unfortunately.

RIP to all three.

Add Vader a couple weeks ago and now also Jim Neidhart a few days ago. So sad to see so many wrestler deaths in such a short period.

Vader is dead? How the fuck did I miss that?! When did he die?

Can't honestly say I'm sad about Brian Lawler. I tend to not have sympathy for people who abuse drugs and die because of them. Sympathy for their families, sure. But for that person, nope. But must be awful for Jerry losing a son.

I saw that Jim Neidhart died, but nothing else on it. I like that his family is still in the business, even if Natalia doesn't get the dues she deserves.

The drugs didn't kill him. He tried to kill himself in prison. He was taken to hospital but died because of his injuries.

But you know that drugs and drink would have played a huge part in that. No one hangs themselves because of a standard drink drive charge. If he'd killed someone, fair enough, but he didn't. He'd messed himself up so bad he wasn't right in the head. Sadly too many wrestlers were in a similar boat because it was the norm. I really do love that WWE offer free support to former employees and do tests now. Just a shame some of the older generations don't want the help. And people like DDP as well doing their parts to help. It's nice to see things like that and a shame they can't help them all.

I should probably clarify my original comment though because I was sad as fuck when Eddie died. That Raw actually brought tears to my eyes. But I get it with people like him, he worked hard to get off substance abuse. People like that I can feel sympathy for as they're turned their life around.

Addiction is tough to conceive of and be sympathetic of but it has to be assumed he had a lot of mental issues (perhaps depression etc) that led him to the substance abuse. Addiction is a terrible disease. Sure, it's his fault that he went the way he did with his drug issues but it's still incredibly sad and tragic.

The Moon Maiden

There can actually be underlying genetic factors that result in one being more susceptible to drug/alcohol abuse, too.

I felt Eddie's death more, but that's speaking as a big fan, so the perspective gets skewed some. Too Cool were fine and all, but yeah. I don't view either as being more or less sad when trying to look at it from a more neutral space. Eddie lived to turn his life around; there had just been too much damage done. Brian's damage landed him in a prison cell; I imagine his world sort of imploded at that point. I don't know much about drugs, but I know about mental illness. Hopelessness and hopefulness are never all that far apart from one another.
