Meanwhile, the creative team was looking for a Plan B to bring Ambrose from developmental to the main roster. Plan A -- a "worked-shoot" angle with Ambrose and Mick Foley engaging in a war of words on social media -- was scrapped after Foley legitimately took issue with something Ambrose said about him.
From what I heard it wasn't scrapped cos of Ambrose offending Foley but rather just Vince McMahon deciding debuting Ambrose in a feud vs Foley wouldn't work cos no-one would know who Ambrose was. Pretty sure Mick confirms this in one of his books, although I could be wrong.

Well that is direct from an old head booker. You'd think that he'd know more than Foley. You'd think so anyway, but who knows with this company. I've also read that Foley wasn't passed fit at the time by doctors so the angle was scrapped.
I wonder how many pitches there were about the anonymous GM. There's no way they went into that and spent the whole time thinking that it would be Hornswoggle. They had to have been going back and fourth on that one for ages.

You think a head booker would know if Foley was offended more than Foley? 😋
Yeah whatever the reason I'm glad it didn't happen. The Shield was better.

Former WWE Superstar John Morrison recently appeared as a guest on Sean Waltman's 12360 Podcast. During his appearance on the show, Morrison spoke with Sean Waltman about pitching ideas that WWE ultimately turned down when he worked for the company.
"That was one of the reasons I left (WWE)," said Morrison of WWE turning down his ideas. "I was always having all these ideas… Like every week I'd pitch something like, 'I want to have a tanning bed match with Shamus, loser gets locked in a tanning bed.' "No." I understand why that would be a no. I want to have a Porto Potty match with the Miz, to win you have to close someone in the Porto Potty and knock it over. I pitched these. I pitched all these ideas."
Morrison continued, "It makes sense why you couldn't do them… I pitched the tanning bed idea to Vince (McMahon) and he laughed at it. I don't know if he even thought I was serious. Mundo in Vince McMahon's voice, "Ha ha ha Shamus is pale ha." I wanted him (Shamus) to come out looking like Brother Love covered in that red stuff."
No wonder Morrison was released 😄
Well he did use that gimmick for the Snickers advert.

Just read a fun article by Kevin Eck, who is a former member of the WWE creative team, where he discusses pitches that were rejected. Some are cool, like using Hero instead of Reigns to partner Ambrose and Rollins. Hero is great, but The Shield really were a brilliant team and I couldn't picture someone else in place of any of them. So happy in a way that it was rejected because of what it gave us.
Was a fun read I thought. Anyone know of any other pitches that were rejected? I like reading stories like these, they're usually quite fun and at times downright hilarious.
