It's odd building towards 2 PPV's at the same time, but anyway, the first Raw PPV is coming up.

I do like that the first matches announced are all title matches. Exactly how it should be imo as they're the most important matches.

New match was added last night - Zayn vs Jericho. Should be a good match. Zayn is always good, and Jericho is on a roll at the moment, especially promo wise. Shaping up to be a good PPV.

Fully expect Reigns vs Rusev to be added soon. Hopefully they actually get a match this time. Wouldn't expect it to be a good match though, but not every match on a PPV can be good I guess.

So, I don't get it.  Clash of the Champions was always a show with a main event that included all or at least most of the current champions with a strong undercard of course.  I personally think it would be pretty cool to see Kevin Owens, Rusev, and maybe Y2J vs. The New Day or something like that.  But, I guess that whole gimmick has gone to the wayside like Survivor Series where we are lucky to get one Traditional Survivor Series match each year.  I guess it's just a name.

Clash of Champions is just a modified name for Night of Champions. They even use the same font and graphics for the logo/poster.

It used to just mean that every single championship was up for grabs that night.

Under the night of champions I mean.  They've never had a clash of the Champions ppv.

I suppose "Clash of Champions" is not the same thing as "Clash of THE Champions" and their just borrowing the name from WCW.

Exactly that. I saw something the other week where someone in WWE made a point of saying how the "the" isn't in the title of the PPV as it's not the same thing. Come up with a different name then, just removing a work like "the" is hardly a change. It's no wonder people think of the WCW one.

To me it makes me think of Night of Champions. Don't get why they didn't just go with that - it's not difficult to have all the Raw belts on that PPV now. Add a few number one contender matches in there and it would totally suit the name. And people wouldn't think of the WCW PPV.

I'd imagine though that they're trying to cash in on the WCW pedigree with the Clash of Champions name though. Otherwise what indeed is the point of swapping the name from Night of Champions?

Either way they've probably made a mistake on this in that we've spent half the thread discussing the PPV title rather than the matches...

Card updated. Love that they're going straight in with a Crusierweight title match. And I wonder if we'll actually get this Rusev vs Reigns match.

Surprised that The New Day retained, but I fully expect them to make the record now since they're so close to it.

Love that Jericho won. It was one of those matches where a loss doesn't really hurt the other guy I think, but it's great to see Jericho win a PPV match as it doesn't happen often anymore. He's been brilliant recently so it's great for him to get a win. Building Jericho up to eventually turn on Owens, maybe?

Surprised at Reigns winning the US Title. I figured he'd win, but was expecting a DQ win. But then Rusev wasn't really doing much with the US Title so makes sense I guess to move the title on. Was just expecting that to be to someone other than Reigns, who doesn't really benefit from it.

Biggest surprise though was no Triple H appearance. Fully expected that given that the rumours of a Triple H vs Rollins feud has been talked about for 2 years. Figured this would be a continuation of a slow build for it - Triple H costs him again, but still doesn't appear on Raw for Rollins to confront. Just have him interfere in important Rollins matches for a bit until Rollins completely loses his shit, anticipates a Triple H interference and beats him leading to a proper feud. There's still time for that, but was expecting it to continue here. I think everyone was really.

The show basically went exactly as I expected apart from the Jericho win. Wasn't as good as Backlash, but still a decent show with, for the most part, good matches.
